Weather Advisory: Significant Ice Storm Possible
Weather forecasts and models are indicating a possibility of a significant ice storm this weekend. We encourage everyone to begin preparing NOW in the event of sleet, freezing rain, snow, etc. If the predictions are accurate, be prepared for hazardous road conditions, falling trees and/or limbs, extended power outages, water outages, etc.
Vehicles and deliveries
- Please consider pausing deliveries if possible
- Avoid unnecessary travel during freezing conditions
- Keep Vehicles fueled and stocked with a flashlight and blankets
At Home
- Stock several days of non-perishable food items and bottled water
- Ensure prescriptions and critical medications are refilled
- Make backup plans for refrigerated medications or medical equipment
- Stock several gallons of water or fill a bathtub with water for toilet flushing
- Charge cell phones, ipads, laptops, battery packs, and medical devices
- Locate flashlights, batteries, blankets, and warm clothing
- Check propane levels
During power outage
- Never use grills or propane heaters indoors
- Check on your neighbors!
Important Email Addresses: Report a downed tree to the Chainsaw Brigade at brigade@sharp-mountain.com. Contact the BOD at theboard@sharp-mountain.com.
Remember there are ice melt boxes in eight different locations throughout The Preserve. The ice melt is not a pre-treatment, rather it is to be used at the beginning of ice being formed on the roadway and during the storm when conditions warrant, in order to be most effective. To conserve supplies, only one lane of clearing is suggested.
Please take time now to prepared and stay informed through local weather alerts. Your safety and preparedness help protect not only your household, but the entire community. Stay safe and warm.
